On the Paper Heart

On the Paper Heart

I'm not someone with a paper heart,
sewn delicately on my sleeve,
exposed to fingers to tear.

How can people wear it so unveiled?
How can they be so gullible to
indifference of possible scored trust?

My heart of flesh echoes rhythms
of mortality within me, enabling me
to keratinize my soul, never crumbling from fire.

  1. Beautiful words and illustration. Carver, ABC Wed. Team

  2. beautiful poetic musings, nice complementary photo

    much love...

  3. Heartfelt words. Love is a fragile thing, we must take care of it. I like that the book pages used in the image is of a blank calendar. Each day starts blank to fill as we chose. Clearly here the choice is to love.

  4. I wore my heart on my sleeve when I was younger. Not so much any more, unless I really trust somebody.

  5. What an interesting photographic perspective! And...I love your poem.

  6. What a wonderful perspective!

This really made me think! I love your clever writing style.

    Thank you for sharing it.
